Ukrainian orthodox wedding is the most popular type of wedding in Ukraine. It’s because about 70 presents of Ukrainian population are Orthodox Christians.

So ukrainian orthodox wedding differs from other types of wedding by some peculiar traditions.

1. Rules of ukrainian orthodox wedding are not so strict as rules of ukrainian catholic wedding. But it is only now, ukrainian orthodox wedding used to be full of strict rules and traditions that every new couple had to follow.
2. With time Ukrainian traditions changed. Hundreds years ago Ukrainian orthodox wedding had such traditions that are not understandable to modern people. For example these were women who asked in marriage. And it was a great sin to kick away a woman who is asking a marriage.
3. Ukrainian orthodox wedding was celebrated in different ways. Each village had some slight differences in traditions and customs, for example: some villages made a loaf of square form and some of round. But everywhere Ukrainian wedding was bright and happy.
